Re: 12"s that go from vocal to dub to dj

Perhaps this has already been a topic, but I'm not too sure how to search for it!

I've got a couple like this:

Bim Sherman - Love Jah Only 12" (Hit and Run)

Goes from Sherman's vocals directly into a couple minutes of dub and then Jah Buzz's dj part - all in discomix style! First time I put it on, I was more than a bit disoriented when Jah Buzz came in!

Barry Brown - Cool Pon Your Corner 12" (Attack)

This one has Barry's vocals mixed into the dub, followed by a separate uncredited dj track on the same rhythm.

I imagine there's quite a few more out there.

Jack Ruby Hi Fi- Various Artists lp -contains some tracks that go into dubs then DJ-namely a track called "Better Must Come" by Lennox Miller which goes into a dub then DJing by Jah Coller-an excellent lp of jack Ruby productions-check it out

I think the 12" Dr Alimantado did, "Born For A Purpose", would also qualify.

Forever version extended (Love me forever)- Carlton and the shoes and Dennis Alcapone

That Jack Ruby LP is a nice set. Were any of those tracks ever released as singles? The Ken Boothe track in particular I would love to have on 12".

Unless there's a 12" of Tado's "Born For A Purpose" besides the Greensleeves one, I don't think it qualifies because the dj version is on the B-side (although I didn't really make that clear in the initial post to be fair).

Jackie Mittoo, Brentford Disco Set & Jah Stone - Gold Streak is another Studio One 12" that fits the bill. Born To Be Loved is such an awesome rhythm! Would love to find that one someday.

on the best of the Maytones cd there are some like this - don't know if they were originally released like that

There's also a version by Disco Devil by Lee Perry that goes into a dub and then a Jazzbo cut

who gets your love by ken boothe is like that on LP even if seems that cuts on 12" dont have this feature

have to check this weekend, but i'm sure a couple of the 12" on Sufferer's Heights clocked in at over 7 or 8 minutes - going vocal, dub, dj... Mikey Dread "Butter 'Gainst the Sun", Horace Andy... UGH my memory is GONE!!
