There are of cause not sooo many albums out there fitting your description (sadly). Ninjaman over early 80s Roots Radics would be wicked imho.

Check out "Little John - Boombastic" LP/CD on Heartbeat Records (HB 74)
Although the music is by Roots Radics, this album is from 1990, and definetely later dancehall.

i think General Trees "Negril" LP was all band, from '86 or '87 and it had his big hits like "mini bus" and "gon a negril"
