The "new" thing was the merge of two catalogues, Island/Universal and Trojan/Sanctuary, which gives us tracks from :
Arkology + Open The Gate = Disco Devil, The Jamaican Disco Mixes

Ok so I may have been a little hasty, I can' t instantly find the heptones one or ketch vampire or the sons of slaves

But all the others are available for download

Several of the tracks are on this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Best-Of/dp/B001N2B3GY/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1342387956&s=dmusic&sr=1-15

Bad weed
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001KWRH1M/ref=sr_1_album_1_rd?ie=UTF8&child=B001KWJQK2&qid=1342388212&sr=1-1

Some more of them on this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trojan-Upsetter-Box-Set/dp/B0070XM36O/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&qid=1342388562&s=dmusic&sr=1-30

And the rest are from arkology which you can get on amazon for half the price I paid for it when it first came out So although there may be 3 tracks I couldn't instantly find googling on my phone the lion share of this new release is re hashed old stuff you can already get.

Unless they are going to present us with radically new mixes, but I doubt it.

I'm only saying what I think as someone who spends hundreds of pounds a year on reggae, as opposed to stealing music like so many do, I think Trojan / island could come up with something better this from their combined vaults

I would also like to see more unreleased music, but you really should look at this compilation through the eyes of a non-collector: it's a great way to acquire some fantastic music in a nicely themed package for a fair price.

Don't forget that each day there are new people getting into the music, and if Universal sees an expanding market, it should only mean good things for both newcomers, and old jaded people (like us!).

That's a very good point and I hadn't thought of it that way

Maybe it just frustratation speaking. I've got to the point where I've pretty much got all the currently released reggae that I'm interested in, and I look at all the albums here on ots archive and I think, I really want to buy that, but I don't want to have to pay some dealer hundreds of pounds for a scratchy LP

I'bve got money to spend on Trojan products if only they would release stuff I want

I'm pretty much in this camp. I love discovering all this music, but I dread the day where I've "heard it all". I try to ration myself on the number of 'new' tunes I hear. I recognize on sight about half the entries in this album, but these are 12" mixes and this could be quite a tasty morsel for someone like myself.

Man, I would love to see The Kingstonians' Sufferer re-re-released. That LP is impossible to find and when you do find it, vinyl goes for $120 and the CD is $40!

I used to see that Kingstonians reissue everywhere. I even think I know where to find a copy for cheap. If interested tell me and I'll go check for it.
