"Darker Than Blue" is the ticket..

Dennis Brown's cover of Black Magic Woman by Santana
Re: Reggae Covers Of Famous Songs
Prince Far I's 'Deck of Cards' and 'Deck of Life',...
Rev J C Burnett's 1929 version 'The Gambler's Doom' sounds even more other-worldly than Prince Far I.
Re: Reggae Covers Of Famous Songs
A few odd ones that took some time to sink in:
Dawn Penn or KC White - No No No
is Willie Cobb's 'You Don't Love Me' c1961
Paul Powell - Gena
is Frankie Avalon's 'Venus'
Delroy Wilson - Have Some Mercy
Chenley Duffus - To Be A Lover
George Faith - To Be A Lover
are all William Bell's 'I Forgot To Be Your Lover' c1968
But I'm never sure whether U Roy's Babylon Burning is a version of Proud Mary or not. Any views?

Re: Reggae Covers Of Famous Songs
A huge topic, but Alton Ellis doing "Can I Change my Mind" (Tyrone Davis) and him or Freddie McGregor doing "Sitting in the Park" (Billy Stewart) and Rolando Alphonso's version of "Stranger on the Shore" (Acker Bilk) are among my favourites... also AJ Brown "Human Nature" (Michael Jackson), Willie Lindo "Samba Pa Ti" (Santana)... better stop now!
Re: Reggae Covers Of Famous Songs
It probably wasn't the origianl posters intention to keep to famous songs, but if we are I don't think a bunch of these tunes are really famous (other than to soul heads and a bunch reggae nerds). You Don't Love Me? That charted?
Jesco77's post notwithstanding.
