I've been listening to that 'King Tubby's More Dangerous Dub' album loads recently. I guess that one's my current favourite.

I'm aware that Tubby may not have actually mixed it - but whomever did (Scientist?) managed to get a superb sound.

Reeepseck... and to show KTs' brilliance this was a dub of 'Lorans' Dance' written by Grover Washington Jr and performed magically by Idris Mohammed, and then covered by Mudies' all Stars (on 500% Dynamite)...before the genius did his ting...

What about Keith Hudsons dub of 'True to my Heart', 'Black Heart' on Pick a Dub???

Wow, actually never heard the original cut of 'Lorans Dance' until now. Very nice tune!

Yeah 'Black Heart' is a great one, even though 'Michael Talbot Affair' is my personal fav from 'Pick a Dub'.

Just listened to 'Lorans dance'.
It's kind of a revelation, never heard it, while 'Heavy duty dub'is daily food for me for years now.
Beautiful layered instru reggae, typical Mudies imo.
Also Tubby's reworking of it, stands out even more!

finally got Rising Sun. As I never heard a mediocre Augustus Pablo record I like this one, too. Dub Wiser is a killer track.
But I like the older Pablo records even more. Maybe because we all seem to tend to the records from our youth time?

Pablos best disc is Eastman dub, ive mentioned it on this thread many times already, its very good dub from about the early 1980s, it features input from Tetrack, the vastly underrated reggae group. just for example, do you know these Wackie records:

African Roots Act 1
Roots Underground / Tribesman Assault
Prince Douglas / Dub Roots
Creation Dub
Black World Dub

There are a few more, but if you don't like these you will not like the others as well, I guess. But it's hard to believe!

Thanks shoe! And yes, Wackies dub, though good in many instances, just hasnt been a major favourite of mine. Not thus far, yet we all live and learn, I will try some of the albums listed sometime and get back to you then.Glad you liked dub wiser.And yes, we do all like music from our young days..thats why ive long been a scientist fan, as Heavyweight dub champion and Pacman, etc, came out as my introduction to dub in the early 1980s.

is impossible to say . there are too many good albums but I say his majestys dub of king tubby and prince jammy, garvey´s ghost of jack rubby, king tubby meets rockers uptown of augustus pablo... endless list maaan!

Got Tubbys' Prophesy of dub spinning just now, and have to say it's melodic, and whilst Wackies (with Wayne jarrett say..) is pure niceness.., it's hard to beat Tubs in full effect??

Tubs with Harry Mudie (vol 3) - also has some haunting tunes - nineteen love, and mudies serenade.. and have also had APs'Eastman Dub on the decks, and the way he takes Tetracks' toons into dub, before finishing them in East of the River Nile is a testament to dubs' beauty!!!
