Would love to know where to find that film! BTW, I think they were there on behalf of Virgin if I'm not mistaken.

the film has never been released but you can view it at the BFI only on the premises though, they digitized it for me a year or so back which was nice of them, you need to book a special viewing appointment and have to pay for the pleasure, i think about £30 for an hour. Also some short clips of the congos getting stopped by the police in their car, i think there with tappa zukie!funny!, some very nice prince fari footage at dingwalls but only short, also him in Jamaica by the looks of it wearing his red/gold+green robes somewhere on the coast climbing on some cliffs. I think i also spotted what looked like Richard Branson in the footage and Mick Jagger very briefly! or was i mistaken, not sure? mainly punk stuff in the collection from UK and some very nice Dr.Alimantado studio footage but there's a few reels of Jamaican stuff, not everyones cup of tea it is raw footage unedited so not a film or anything.

wonder if Don Letts has a copy? Thanks for the extra band info Marky Dread, will check out the SLF stuff you mentioned. Anyone have any more Punky-Reggae to recommend?
There are some photos of J.Rotten looking stoned out of his tree in JA as well as pics of Big Youth and local Dreads in a book called Punk by Stephen Colegrave. Its quite a big coffe table size book but traces the birth of Punk in the late 60s with proto-Punk bands like the Stooges, MC5 to U.K punk scene and the reggae/punk crossover. There is also a book by Don Letts called :Culture Clash Dread meets Punk Rockers which may be worth checking out.

You're welcome, anytime! Don Letts' book sounds RIGHT up my alley, I will check that out - Thanks, Dubbaddikt!
In my youth, as in my current life as an "old man" - Punk and Reggae harmoniously coexist, though I lean WAY more to Reggae these last 10 years...

Not sure about RDF, but Chris Bowsher still does gigs. So do Dub The Earth and some of the other bands from that time.

A.d.f (Asian Dub Foundation)combined Punk and Dub in a totally new way, check out their early stuff like Rafi's Revenge and Conscious Party which sounds out of this world.
Dub War and their next band Skindread spring to mind as well.To my ears PIL never sounded that reggae-like though apparently they were big fans.Any more punkk/post-punk sounds to recommend?

Found [this decent clip](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtVMTyZB ... re=related) from the Dub Echoes doc talking about Punky Reggae, and [this similar clip](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q6owT-PTtg) as well.

There's a book about Joe Strummer called [Let Fury Have the Hour](http://www.backpagesbooks.com/book/9781560256250) that has a section about the influence of reggae on the Clash and punk, as well as more coverage in the exhaustive and excellent [Route 19 Revisited](http://www.backpagesbooks.com/book/9781593762933) (and probably every other book on the Clash).

Some more examples of punky reggae bands/tunes not mentioned yet:

The Ruts - ["Jah War"](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01zIS6oYqec) and ["Give Youth a Chance"](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojQxadlfl-w) (they did an LP with Mad Professor as Ruts DC).

Another group that worked with Mad Prof, [Anti-Social Workers](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXAr2WfKQ58)

The Members - [Offshore Banking Business](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXKak8Az ... re=related)

Elvis Costello - [Watching the Detectives](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sed8IjdX ... re=related)

Bad Brains - (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... hBxaS6qXFc) (hardcore punky-reggae...)

B.Brains singer HR / Human Rights - [Shame in Dem Game](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTrM9icjk0g)

...to name just a few of the older ones (and not mentioning any of the On U stuff that qualifies).

And if you're into the punky reggae thing, I will shamelessly plug my band, [Destroy Babylon](http://dl.destroybabylon.com), stream the new LP!

also you get a few 80s indie bands with dubs of their songs on their albums. it was a nice idea but the type of music they usually played never really stood the dub treatment
Hot it from the top to the very last drop!
