I am going to Paris on Sunday. Can anyone recommend some good record shops. And tell me where please?

"le silence de la rue" 39, rue Faidherbe, 75011 Paris - Metro Charonne
and
"deep roots" 25, rue Lucien Sampaix 75010 Paris -Metro Jacques Bonsergent
are my two favorites...
find also "patate recors" (rue de charonne), and
"Dubwise"(near Mairie du XVIII)..."La Fnac - Bastille" could be nice sometimes as well...
if you prefer some awful ragga dancehall hardcore go to "Blue Moon" rue quincampoix...near "Centre Pompidou"...you'll receive a nice badcome!!!
Good research!!

Re: Record Shops In Paris
you forgot the excellent Crocodisc shop near Panthéon and St Germain, don't remember the address, but you can find it on the net.
(I agree with florent about the awful ragga Blue Moon, although it is historically the first reggae shop in paris and also a good label, too bad..)

in crocodisc you also have cds, the guy is a bit peculiar but he knows everything and has some stocks, you can ask for things you don't see

Look too for Virgin Megastore on the "champs elysée", they have an incredible lot of roots cd and some lp, classics and some rares too!

historically, don't forget :
Concrete Jungle (rue Chapon) & Time Music (Odeon)
i think they were the first reggae shops in Paris before Blue Moon (rue Sauffroy in the early days)
one love

Re: Record Shops In Paris
dubdoudou, you are right about the Concrete Jungle shop which was the first in Paris. Close to Champs Elysés.
I think the first adress of the Blue Moon shop was Bd St Gremain. Not sure tho'.
I didn't know about Time Music.
There was also a shop related to the Soul Poster French label. I think it was more a Black Music shop, but they had plenty reggae and distributed some LPs from the Grounation and Vulcan label. Might be late 70's or early 80's.

Re: Record Shops In Paris
hi wareika
i'm pretty sure that Blue Moon's first adress
was rue Sauffroy (17ème)
bought Freddie Mc Gregor Showcase (Sonic Sounds)
here ages ago
Concrete Jungle (José Jourdain's shop) was located near les Halles
bought Lee Perry's Roast Fish & Cornbread (Upsetter) here & a few 12" (the wonderful Lee Perry "Cane River Rock")
Time Music was located rue Grégoire de Tours near
Odéon
bought Burning Spear's Living Dub 1 (black cover)
& a bunch of singles here in the early 80s
one love
