KoOl RoOtS or RiGhT TiMe
according to channel one studios, these two albums made like hall of fame in that studio, even thought they are both outstanding albums which one do u personally think is better ?
i think and perfer "kool roots" from "earth & stone" is better than "right time" from "the mighty diamonds"

Yeah, they're both excellent but I'd probably give the nod to Earth and Stone. Both are beautiful albums though and are surely classics.

Of curse "kool roots" is better, but it looks that you compare them as if they are their best albums for both, and for me its not "right time" the best Mighty Diamonds!
Try "changes" and "the roots is there" and you will have a different idea about the terribles Mighty Diamonds.

Right Time has always sounded weak and terribly thin to me. It sounds almost like an average rock album, no bass at all and painfully clear mixing. I can't even listen to it without tweaking the EQ _severely_. Then again, I have only the Virgin/Frontline CD, and when it comes to releasing reggae, Virgin has always been a shady label with its sell-a-lot agenda supporting those cheesy overdubs...
As for the Kool Roots album, all the steppers cuts and the respective dubs are nothing short of pure scorchers, but I have never quite liked the one drop rhythms coming from Channel One. Other than that, there is nothing I dislike more than lovers' tunes on a ROOTS album, so there's a couple of tracks, which I almost can't stand listening... But surely it is a better album than Right Time!

you're entitled to your opinion but i suggest you take a listen to right time on vinyl because cd reissues are remastered digitally and sometimes suffers a loss of quality and i might add that 16-bit does no justice to the full sound that came from channel ones master tapes.

Hi Youthman Deh
Sad to hear it's so thin on CD. I have the track 'Right Time' (as opposed to the album) on the original Virgin Front Line Sampler on vinyl (which retailed at 59p!) and the bass blows the house down.
It's still one of my favourite tracks.
Incidentally, I've ordered 'Kool Roots' on the back of this thread so 'Thank you' to Edu for starting it. Sounds as if it is a scorcher.
