channel one closing is definately not the reason why many of those groups broke up. there are many other studios in JA. the reasons for a group to split (which i do not know)are surely far more complex than the studio shutting down.

Usually, the revival of anything that was once extra classic is never the same as the original.

I hope the new Channel One can be the exception.

i agree leggo, nothing will ever match the warm sound that came from those original pressings.

If you look at Michael Campbell's site it shows a picture of Scientist working on a board. I hope he builds the desk. The man in my opinion is Second only to his mentor, the great King Tubby as an Engineer. Would be great if he was involved.

If Scientist does build it, let's hope it's an 8 track analogue one with an analogue echo chamber, and a second hand pressing plant next door, that would do fine.

yeah nothing can beat an original that came from the original channel one studio in ja in maxfiel ave hehe. i wonder once it opens if artists are actually gonna go back and record their old sounds again ? i doubt it because were in a new era of music and that music style belonged in the 80's but anything can happen in reggae

Sadly too many of those original artists have been shot, turned to hard drugs or just died of natural causes. 1970-80 was a long time ago!

I was born in London and moved to L.A in the mid 1980's. I still have some old Rodigan recordings which I listen too from time to time.
I would like to see pictures of the channel one studio if they can post it on the website.
