12 Tribes ORTHODOX Showcase Vol.1

Post by Lite-let »

There was an earthquake two weeks ago... someone brought a copy of this mightiest killer for sale...

12 Tribes of Israel - Showcase Vol.1 pon ORTHODOX

http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3905

Have any of you listened that WICKEDEST sound...?
The Creators - Send Us Home... ruffest killer, and kept in the privacy of the 12 tribes...

Waouh...still shaking on my chair...
How many copies of dis...? 10, 20, 50?

Almost all chunes are killer, and I think that only the first Dan Hudson - Bastism track was released as 7"... or any of you know more?

Others tunes released as 7" on ORTHODOX that I know are
Africa awaits by Ewan Naphtali and Why Worry by Israel Vibrations... Any of you know more?

Nowadays, ORTHODOX crew and the 12 Tribes are back on recordings... but far from the sound of the 70's...

Yes this is a very rare stuff. Nevertheless this press does not look like an original one. The point is that to my knowledge there are very few (and actualy none) LPs with a groove under the label with a small size (the size of a 7" central hole). All pre-85 LP have a larger one.

As an exemple:

The H Mundell LP on Message:

http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2441

The first Message label presented is the original one and the second Message label is the current reissue. It's a well known fact which help a lot to make difference between originals an reissues...

The very first one to appear with this size of groove were pressed at Tuff Gong not before the second part of the 80's...

So, this specific disc is IMO a press from late 80's or early 90's. There was a discussion on the old BAF forum about these comps which were given to some of the 12" Tribes' members.
If memory serves, these were pressed in Jam in the second part of 80's and they were given mostly to UK member at the 12" Tribes dances. the tune are classics from this sound system.

wareika,
You’re right, the roots archive image of the orthodox label is indeed an eighties label. The seventies orthodox label had a slightly different design.

The cassette rip, on the other hand, is a recording of an original seventies red vinyl pressing (never mind the image,,,) :-)

to goldfinger: thanks to share!

to collie man: yes and seller provided sound samples, I would say it seems there are indeed some great tracks, but maybe not as strong as on the 12 tribes showcase...

Waouh... incredible.. didnt see that link! Murderous goldfinger, and thanks to share! Do you own a copy of it?

Well, actually, recordings of this album are 70's (except father's eyes, an early 80s dancehall) but overdubbed with digital effects (which is the only imperfection... imo).

About the Visionaires LP on ebay...
Its an early dancehall (1982) album, not that crucial, far from the showcase. For me, only the song "Marcus Garvey" is really interesting. I could get a recording and will try to share it.
