Dad Brown

Post by Rastafab »

Hello
Does any one know if Dad Brown, who is credited for a wicked tune called 'Stand and Look' in the Trojan 12 inches Box Set recorded anything else?
I can't find anything about the producer Ken 'Fatman' Gordon either.
Thanks

Ken 'Fatman' Gordon is a UK sound operator. He had the Fatman sound system which was among the very very best sound systems at the end of the 70's with Shaka, Coxsone UK and few others.

He also produced some good stufs back in the days and issued some very strong dub LP. The "Fatman Dub Contest" LP ( http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3800 ) is very good and the Jammy side is KILLER (IMHO, of course).

edit: BTW most of the tune "he produced" are actually Jammaican productions he had as dubplates. This is the case for this dub LP I mention (some B Lee stuff azmong others from memory).

I also have another LP which he produced. Can't remember straight but I think this LP is based on Jammy's riddim from very late 70's or early 80's.

Nowaday he has a reissue business.

Roger Lewis is not the producer Fatman

BTW I found the LP I thought about: Raymond Naptali "Trouble Posse" (CSA) > http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2606#rel2491 A very good deejay inna rub a dub style. The riddims sound as Jamaican prods. Perhaps Jammy's riddims from 80/82 ? Not sure, but I think Fatman had a connection with Jammy for dubplates.

R Naptali was one of the deejays of the Fatman sound system. He also have an LP with Roy Ranking ( http://www.roots-archives.com/release/1019 ) who was another deejay from Fatman sound system.

Thanks to both of you

Lion, if I get you right, the Fatman who produced the Dad Brown song is the same guy who produced the
Inner Circle Albums?
Anyway,I ll get the Moll Selkta/Auralux CDs as a starting point to get better acquainted with his work

Cheers

No Fatman is not Roger Lewis of the Inner Circle and the Fatman Rydims section band.

FatMan is from the UK label and Sound owner.
Moll selkta Just the vibes is a killer album and a Fatman production.

true, Fatman is Ken Gordon, as said sound system owner and nowadays owner of a restaurant in London, different from the Inner Circle 'fatmen'
