JA labels help

Post by Dubbase »

I recently got hold of a load of 45s from a DJ. In the pile are records on the following labels. For the records I have (mostly with the label info obliterated) I know who the bands are/what the tracks are but I only have a single copy from each of these labels. Does anyone have any 45s from these labels? Who is/was the owner/producer? Anything would be much appreciated.

Addis Ababa
Alms House
Black World
Caravan
Cucoon
Dr. Komina
Duque
Emperor
Herb of Wisdom
Hot Disk
Jigsaw
Kismet
Mushroom
Night Owl
Oracabessa
Quality
Sand Shore
Shama
Sound of Silence
Stumpy
Tru Soul
Zipp

Oracabessa is actually owned by... UB40! It's a Jamaican subsidary label that they set up independent of their own DEP/Virgin records deal for their mainstream products. My brother bought his car off one of the lads who helped to set up and run the company. He left about 80 45's in the boot. Mostly UK Charm releases.

addis ababa (other name: new flower), is a label owned by Allan Campbell, launched in 1975. Every tune is a killa. Which one do you have?
