A must-have for me that doesn't appear to have been mentioned;

The Rare Gems compilation is also very high quality material. Worth picking up IMHO.

Re: Sugar Minott
Hmmm - my favourite 5 are covered here already - the 3 studio one albums mentioned by Lion , plus Ghetto-ology and Sufferers Choice mentioned by leggorocker
There is another album I like with Frankie Paul - they take a side each - great album - can't remember the title - anyone assist here? Remember the track Missing You and the Frankie Paul opener 'Worries in the Dance' - not fussed on the other Frankie Paul tracks, but the Sugar Minott side was very nice.
I was lucky enough to see Sugar Minott at the UK Reggae Sunsplash in 1985 - I still have the programme - check this line up:-
12:00 - 12:30 Investigators
1:00 - 1:40 Paul Blake
2:10 - 2:30 Caution Band with Smiley
2:30 - 3:10 Maxi Priest
3:40 - 4:20 Arrow
4:50 - 5:35 Third World
6:05 - 6:20 Sly and Robbie
6:20 - 6:40 Ini Kamoze
6:40 - 7:20 Sugar Minott
7:20 - 8:00 Gregory Isaacs
What a day that was!

African Soldier (Heartbeat LP, 1988) is a crucial album by Sugar Minott. Tuff reality tunes, with tuff riddim tracks.
