righteous flames/burning spear - any link

Had a tune on a sound tape for many years that I was convined was burning spear. Thought I was getting close when I found a cut of 'He prayed' on the studio one compilation by the spear. Just needed to find a different version. Same rythym track, similar lyrics. But then I stumbled across Righteous flames track ('Solid foundation') and this was the tune. The vocals sound so much like winston rodney - is there any relationship between the two groups? Or is it just they were both recording at studio one at about the same time?

The Righteous Flames is Winston "Flames" Jarrett just voicing over the Burning Spear track later for Studio One. Winston has been residing in Seatlle, Washington for many years now and still tours and performs!
