Most of Ranking Devon's stuff is still buried on long lost 45s, and long gone. He was in fact singer Devon Russell under his DJ alias, it seems a lot of that stuff is well appreciated, which shows he wasn't that bad in either style :-)

That Ranking Devon was over "Time So Hard" by Derek Lara (aka 7th Extension). The 7" was repressed on Guiding Star (UK) not so long go (sadly minus the Devon cut which was on the back of the original 12")

i was diagreeing with your statement about ranking devon & devon russell connection, can you clarify more on the history of devon russell as well as ranking devon, the voices are not the same to me singing or djing.

They are, this is widely known I'd say, at least among those knowing Russell's history which is not meant in a snobby, elitist kind of way but it is known. Just listen to his voice (deejaying) on Fire A Go Burn on Reggae Connection and listen to his singing on Jah Holds The Key, there are similarities and I'm not making this up

They are one and the same
