The economy has gone south. US dollar not worth as much, yet people are spending less. does this influence the price of records? Possibly. I personally know that the outlets are not what they used to be. In New York, 15 years ago you can walk on Fulton Street or Church Avenue and fine plenty of outlets for Vinyl. Not the case anymore. Ebay business is voodoo magic.

I think reggae vinyl is actually dropping in price. Maybe not the very rare ones but certainly the less rare ones.

the entire music scene is overpriced these days. for 15 quid you can get several hearty dinners in India. Obscene that people give that type of money to big record giants and millionaires really. I buy just 2nd hand or use my library.

Agreed.

I've found some great deals on e-bay recently. Picked up African Dub Almighty Volume 3 orig pressing for 2.50$ US. Just gotta be patient and set limits!

Sadly, I got most of the not-so rare stuff when it was still expensive :(

But I have had some great bargains of late. And I even won a few auctions on eBay despite setting a low low limit!

I think this is partly the economy and partly that so many people are listing their stuff nowadays. This increases supply but also makes it harder to sort through it all so people miss some good stuff.

There are overpriced records and there are cheap records, there are over priced cars there are cheap cars.

This is the way of the world not the way of reggae records. You see an over priced record and don't wish to buy it,LEAVE IT !

Simple !

My thoughts.....

Reggae cycle may have peaked recently, the nice thing about reggae it never goes away just has cycles of popularity and demand. The next wave will be even more expensive and on and on and on...

But like Leggo says its on the downside now so buy up those cheap ones.
