Yes, I remember 'metal' tapes. I also remember them being very expensive and not sounding any different at all even with the 'metal' button pressed on the ghetto blaster. Maybe you needed an expensive tape deck to get the best from them. But I always HATED cassette tapes, nasty, unreliable things.

When I was a despatch rider in the 80s you would see the spewed out tapes strung out along the roadside where it had fouled up in a car driver's stereo system and he'd thrown the resulting 'ball of wool' tape tangle out of the window.

Environmental disaster!

The metel tape cassette with a lump of metel in,was good for recording on a four track recorder porta studio.
They used to make the 180 minutes cassette tape, they were the ones that stretched and broke easily.
Some people now record a dance with Mini Disc with a mic on, but i still prefer recording a dance with a chrome cassette.

C90s were the best. Never a problem with *tape spew*!

In fact, I still have a load recorded from the mid-70's.

Must admit I wish I had all the tapes I did for people back then.

One of my tape players has this "metal tape" option on it, always wondered what it did

Listened to a c90 metal tape I recorded in 1984. Still sounds ok with a bit less dynamics compared to a modern cd.
