still there are good artists who do their music based on what the society is facing but don't sell, and there some who sing about the 'last piece of hardware' they bought and sell!

there is a video by immortal technique on the Iraq war, its moving, when i see how the pple are brutalised.

Yeah hip hop has lost it`s way in terms of quality lyrics with meaning! it`s just so commercial these days plus the introduction of rmb is pathetic.Maybe you guyz disagree with i but rmb just pisses me off! it`s irritating.

I enjoy the hip hop period from 1990 to 1997 groups like Mobb Deep,Nas`s 1st album illmatic,Cypress Hill-Black Sunday,Dr Dre`s-Cronic plus 2001`s cronic,G-unit is not bad but it`s got a little lame over time!Lloyd Banks`s Money for hunger was pretty good,House of Pain`s album was happening plus Wu Tang Clan`s early stuff was pretty cool.

The group with the most message/driven hip hop sound is Dead Prez!an irie group with meaning. Hip Hop is getting boring nowadays most of the true quality rappers have just given the rap scene up and living off their fortune. The crap that`s out these days is just copy catz of the originals and they reckon by mentioning bitches and money plus flashy music videos will be classed as quality rap!And that RMB i`m sorry but to me it`s the most boring, irritating crap thats ever hit the music business and with the inclusion of it within modern day hip hop is a disgrace!

Reggae especially roots and dub plus some dancehall still cuts it for me as the most talented, inspirational and satisfying sound that has ever been created.

Peace out!(tu)

To me the quality of hip hop has diminished because of the beats and lack of innovative sampling, the new original music featuring keyboarded loops is not interesting to me, I like the art of the turntablist who can mix a variety of old sounds into something new. Like an artist who work in collage.

Yes I.....
HipHop back in the dayz was so damn good!
I listened most to the Native Tongues-collective. U know...... A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers.
That was some wicked jazz-funky tunes they delivered, wich inluded some meaningful lyrics.
Lyrics about everyday living,
not like todays HipHop... its all about blingbling, pimps & hoes and bragging about your latest Ferrari!

But still, MosDef and his comrade in arms Talib Kweli is doing some nice music, just like "back in the dayz".
