Albums by Little John & Lone Ranger

Post by kalcidis »

There's two VERY rare albums I've always wondered about.

The first one is Lone Rangers - Learn To Drive LP on Bebo's. What songs does it include, when was it produced and is it any good? Would also love to see a photo of the cover. I think I recall it being some kind of painting of Lone Ranger in car on a black background.

The other album seems to be a extremely rare album by Little John released on Volcano. The cover art was some kind of drawing/painting of a dancehall. I can't remember the title but it must have been released in -81 to -84. Only seen it once.

The Learn to drive cover is excellent.

Its a cartoon picture of Lone Ranger driving along the road with L Plates leaving a trail of distruction behind him. Its a Luminous cartoon if memory serves me right, its also a great album.

The Little John i`m not sure of but if its the one I think from about 83/84 it has a track "Jump the Fence" I think. Lyrics go something like

"You didnt think I see you when you junp the wall,
you didnt think I see you when you accidently fall,
You tear up the old dancehall"

The album cover I have in my head is similar to what you describe but I have no idea of label, its also not on RA so I cannot point you in the right direction.

That all I can remember.

Thanks for the answers! Your description of the Lone Ranger certainly fits the one I had in my mind. Didn't recall it being in the vein of Limonious works though ... but you're probably right. Would love to hear it.

Also nice to know that you've seen the Little John album. I was starting to think that I might had made it up in my mind! I'm 100% certain it is on Volcano as I saw the label for the album.

The label looked like this one;
[cover=8176,3059]

... but also had a coloured border like this one;

.... oops. I assumed that the Lone Ranger album wasn't included in R-A. But I was apparently wrong;

Unfortunately no cover art.

Very very good album I can say. On »The More We Are Together« he is singing over the rhythm to »Hell A Go Pop«.

[cover=3130,941]

... and further investigation it's apparent that the albums is the same as Give The Youth A Try on Live & Learn. With the main difference being much nicer cover art. The mixes seem to be the same.

Kalcidis

This is not the album I refer too, I have "Give the Youth a try" and the album I had in mind is definately not that one.
