EDDIE BO:
Edwin Bocage wrote "Slippin` And Slidin`"--a `50s rock classic--but somehow never escaped from being just a regional New Orleans success. Recorded singles prolifically for 15 or more companies (everything from blues, to rock, to soul) until his funky hit "Hook And Sling" (Scram, 1969).

BOB AND EARL:
Bob Relf (also known as Bobby Garrett) and Earl Nelson (a.k.a. Jackie Lee) after working on and off with the Hollywood Flames broke through as a duo on Tempe in `62 and Marc in `63, the latter being the disco classic "Harlem Shuffle". In 1965 Jackie Lee smashed with "The Duck" (Mirwood) but they continued to work as a team and in recent years as, writers and producers, have maintained their soul success.

GARY US BONDS:
Gary `U.S. Bonds` Anderson after singing in doowop team the Turbans, met up with Frank Guida who produced a series of smashes with him for his Norfolk, Virginia Legrand label. The muffled `party` sound of numbers like "New Orleans", "Quarter To Three" and "School Is Out" hit from `60 to `62. Re-emerged as co-writer of soul hits with Jerry Swamp Dogg Williams in the `70s.

BOOKER T AND THE MG`S:
Booker T. Jones (organ), Steve Cropper (guitar), Lewis Steinburg but soon Duck Dunn (bass) and Al Jackson (drums) established themselves as one of soul music`s funkiest combos, making their, and Stax Records` reputations with driving instruments and superb accompaniments to Memphis` biggest soul artists. Their own "Green Onions" (1962), "Bootleg" (`65), "Hip-Hug Her" (`67), "Hang Em High" (`68) and "Time Is Tight" (`69) established the electric organ as one of soul`s most utilised instruments. The fold up of the original team has benefited Jackson (Willie Mitchell`s right hand man) and Dunn (successful Stax productions) more than Jones (A&M) and Cropper (WB).
