Sanchez in dub? I never heard of that album. Niney did some bad dub releases on ROIR ..Reachout international records. What a shame that Niney didnt make a success of it with space flight dub. I mean, Niney was thoroughly dedicated to reggae i feel.

Yes Sean it's catalog # is RE173CD on the Roir label (pronounced "roar") btw ;-). You are welcome to buy it very cheap if you like.:-)

Yes, ROIR made some truly chronic dub discs, or cassettes, back in 1990, is this Niney release the one where he said "schonkers schonkers schonkers dub" as a vocal snippet on one track?

those niney releases on roir were pretty good if you ask me, and spaceflight dub had some very cool intros that worked well for out-of-context snippets to play on the radio.

i would have to say most of those mad prof dub releases are poor to very poor. and the lee perry stuff atrocious.

i typically also dont rate most joe gibbs dub versions from those african dub sets to that pressure sounds more bones for dogs. if i want to hear toilets flushing and phones ringing i will hang around home more. that gratituous sound effect business is just crap thrown in there to cover up the fact the engineer aint got no real tricks up his sleeve. you never heard scientist flushing a toilet or having dogs bark.

Interesting view, jb, but I think you're oversimplifying ET's work somewhat with that assertion. Have a read of this great book for more depth on the subject: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dub-Soundscapes ... 178&sr=8-1

that is one the rhino (creole) label... the CDs aren't to be trusted on this label.

Most likely not by King Tubby.

Have to disagree with you there as "I Stand Accused" is worth the price of admission alone! An absolute scorcher of a dub!

Agree with you on Space Flight Dub but it shouldn't be a surprise, 1989? release.

Observer Attack Dub was actually listenable IMO (1969-1976).

I am not a great fan of Joe Gibbs, and as for screeching loos, etc, yes we can do without these in dub , but even Mikey Dread and the great Prince Fari used them in their dub.
cheers all
