the essence of Rastafari beliefs

How do Rastafari describe the essence of their faith? I see it as a humane, earth centred,religion, whose adherents consciously cultivate good and ethical conduct. It is non violent and doesnt like politics and corruption.Often adherents are vegetarian. I know about Selassie, so no need to elaborate on the basics. I know a fair bit, but i wanna know how Rasta see the faith and how they must live, etc..in their own words

Usually say it's a way of life not a religion. Subjective - everyone can have their own interpretation / inspirations. So tolerant of some variations and viewpoints. (The reasoning sessions remind me of the Native North American fireside gatherings where everyone gets a chance to express an opinion.)

Bible reading is a big part. My question is how to find an accurate translation when some English versions are corrupt?

You're correct when you say that some versions of the English Bible are corrupt (I take that as not being faithful to the original texts?)
The most faithful translation available is still the KJV.

New American Standard Version (NASB) is considered the most literal. King James Version (KJV) is the most poetic. Easiest to read is The Message but this is paraphrased. They're all good and not corrupt; my preferred version however is the New King James Version (NKJV).

I remember hearing Bob Marley in an interview say that King James 'edit' the Bible against the black man. I honestly don't think that this was the case. Whenever version's had been 'edited' in the past, it has been in order to downplay the role of the Holy Spirit or to deny the full atonement of the Messiah.

Not true bible isn't corrupt i have both all versions and believe you me not even one doctrine changes its only way they are expressed coz narrative/language changes with generations and places example a as white as sheep wool, in some places like sheep is has black wool.
another thing the bible is translated mostly through dictation one reads in one language the other listens and writes it down so small thingies like brackets and commas are omitted hence small variation
