How does this 1984 Powerhouse LP fare in comparison with Prison Oval Rock (from the same year)? Worth getting Money Move?
[cover=969,1117]
Thanks for any guidance.

Its a good typical George Phang production.
BTW, I think all the tracks from this album appear on the 4 double CD`s of George Phang Powerhouse Collection.

Compared to Prison Oval Rock it's missing the big hits. Still; if you like George Phang style riddims it's a solid release.

Don't think "True Love" is on the Phang Collection. Happy to stand corrected, of course!

Simon
I bow to you greater knowledge of these things and stand happy to be corrected.
Although 7 out of 8 tracks is close enough
Actually, I think its all 8 tracks on the Leroy Smart "Bank Account" album that are on those compitations.
Howeve, i`m sure you`ll correct me again if I got that one wrong too

LOL. I think you might be right this time although "Skanking In The Party" is called "Girls Are Skanking" by the looks of it!Rootsman wrote:Simon

"Prison Oval Rock" was a compilation of recordings Barrington did for Junjo over a 3 year period, which is why it has "hits" - it's a compilation of them. By that time Barrington had stopped recording for Junjo, so he "opened the vaults", so to speak. "Money Move" was recorded as an "album", with the exception being "Praise His Name", which George gave to two guys in Toronto to release prior to the LP being recorded. That's why you hear Sly playing an acoustic drum kit on that track, but electronic drums on the balance of tracks...he was using the newer technology by then.
The cover shot of Barrington was taken in George Phang's car in Jungle, with George's cash used as a prop.
It's a nice LP. I can't think of any Barrington Levy LP that is worth passing over, but I am pretty partial to his work.
