most likely it wont take until youre sixty (dont know how old you are but if youre in your twenties it will start making itself apparent by your thirties) and you wont be deaf but you will have a constant background noise ("ringing" or high pitched whine) that your brain will probably compensate for so you dont physically hear it under normal circumstances but it will be a constant background noise that will obscure your hearing to the point that while not "deaf" you will have trouble understanding what is being said, especially in crowded noisy circumstances.

ask how i know.

and good luck on the bionic ear replacements. start saving all your money now.

Yea Bill, I'm 30 now and I think I am paying a bit for loud music. I get the odd ringing that passes, but I often struggle to hear people. To be fair I have recently made an effort to lower the max volume on my Ipod

Still loud reggae is pretty much my only bad habit : )

Back on topic I wouldn't mind getting hold of screaming target with the fake stereo to have a go at 'correcting' it. Are the tunes he DJ’s over somewhere between Rocksteady and early reggae? (or am I making that up?)

@ Bill, oh yea, and how do you know? :)

Really? I picked that up recently and didn't notice that at all. Shows how observant I am! :)

the double lp "the general" by I-ROY, recorded and
mixed at channel one is a fuzzy item.
at the time, i-roy was silent producer at channel
one with the Hookims. the vocal album has i-roy
pretty loud over minimal volume hookim dubs.
the bonus lp is spider web dub, which is instrumental
versions of the lp, with horns, but not very dubby.
i doubt the vocal lp would ever be put on cd.
i made my own cd copy, and it turns some heads.

the reason why those I-Roy albums are split like that is because they were voiced over already-mixed dubs. the tapes were sent to Virgin as 1/4" 2-track masters, vocals on one track and mixed-down/finished riddim tracks on the other track. whoever was mastering for Virgin unfortunately didn't have the sense to realize they should have been mixed into mono essentially, so that you would hear the vocals 'properly' in both channels. kind of a shame.

if you get the JA LP release of 'musical shark attack' on Channel 1 label, the vocals are not split like that, thankfully.

The UK Virgin LP "Musical Shark Attack" WAS released in mono.
On my copy both cover and label state mono, and the music is in mono.

Like Boops said, this isn't that bigger deal to fix. I did it with screaming target on some recording software I downloaded
