No doubt about it; Curtis was an absolute gem.
I can hear that Cornell Campbell was heavily influenced by him.
I dig The Uniques' (with Cornell) version of Queen Majesty (Minstrel & Queen).
Slim Smith and The Techniques' version, too.

I see that we're all on the same wave length! By the way, one of his strongest album - if not the strongest - and yet not-as-well-known-as-it-should-be is "There Is No Place Like America Today". Pure beauty. Get it!!!!

Did Curtis bring any reggae influences back into his own work?

i wouldn't say cornel was heavily influenced by slim, i believe they both influenced each other to a certain degree, but not heavily... two very good singers in their own right, both definitely influenced by the great curtis mayfield, no doubt

GYPSY WOMAN

The Impressions are the reason there were so many singing TRIOs in Jamaica....including the WAILERS!

Who does this pose remind you of ?
Then the Wailers pose ( Peter Tosh's ) was used as the model for the 2 TONE label.
