Don't you just love these? Totally under rated; On top of having different artwork (sometimes, not always) they are almost always superior in printing, paper, and press.
LIST YOURS!!!
Some of my favorites:
> The Mighty Three "Africa Shall Stretch" April LP; Printing quality & mastering of vinyl is vastly superior to the US April press. Got lucky on ebay on this one. People must have thought it was a repress. No, no, it's OG 1979, and has a great insert! It's produced/printed/mastered like the great Jazz LPs (thick cover etc.)
> Mighty Diamonds Struggling. Different cover, not as cheesy as the USA release;
> Mighty Diamonds Tokyo Live! Just worth it for the quality of the photography.
> Maz Romeo Mek We Rock; This one I've never even seen outside Japan!
> Skatashots; The Top Deck LP; Purefect
> Bob Marley Catch A Fire with no overdubs (Jamaica tapes sent to Blackwell before he added all the "rock" instruments) with a matchbox cover instead of Zippo; amazing; The inner sleeve is matches. This must be the rarest.

forgot:
"High Times Present New Talents" ; this LP is just KILLER; Never EVER saw it elsewhere than Japan; Has absolute killer tracks (various artists), I mean KILLER, the best of the best; I would always keep this one in my top 10 ever. It is so crazy this one has never been released elsewhere, I'll start a thread!!!! Check it; I'll gladly share MP3s

What's this ? I thought the Wailers sent 16-tracks masters to Island, not 2-tracks mixed-down mixes...Vlad wrote:> Bob Marley Catch A Fire with no overdubs (Jamaica tapes sent to Blackwell before he added all the "rock" instruments) with a matchbox cover instead of Zippo; amazing; The inner sleeve is matches. Yes, extremely unlikely that this is true - unless it´s the 2001 "original" mix as on the Deluxe 2-CD edition!

Nicholas, Blackarkrock,
You guys rule; The Wailers Japanese press is a farce; The other ones though exist, and I still love Japanese press; I put it in there, as it could have happened; The japanese have a way of getting rare stuff. I do have the Deluxe original mix CD; Wish it came out on vinyl as well one day
Well done, your are experts!!!

Re: Japanese pressed REGGAE LP's: a must
I know there's some nice japanese collections from the 80's of rub-a-dub and deejays. I don't have them neither do I remember their names though. But some great sets (a series of releases).
But really. Aren't unique JA-releases only a handful? It's like talking about Swedish reggae-presses because we had The Misty Over Sweden and a few other scarce things here

Not on vinyl but highly collectable is the 'Wackies Gold' CD-series from Wackies Japan/NUT-MEG Productions from 1993/1994.
I guess there were six albums at least. Some Rolando Alphonso, some dub and a killer compilation with 'Jah Children Invasion Gold'.
