favorite album after 1983

Post by mick d »

I usually stay away from any album made after 1983 because reggae just isn't the same with drum machines and synthesizers. But that isn't to say that there is no good reggae after 1983. Sugar Minott's "Wicked A Go Feel It" is awesome. So I ask all of you reggae experts: what is your favorite album made post-1983?

Damn, lot of albums are still goods after 1983!
Hard to chose one of curse, but Jah Big "music so hot" from 1986 is really great and nothing sound digital in...
(if not you miss a GIANT album if you dont try REGGAE REGULAR "ghetto rock" from 1984, digital in part but not a lot and uncredible album!)

Albert Griffith & The Gladiators -> Country Living (1985)
Clinton Fearon -> Give & Take (2004)
Israel Vibration -> On The Rock (1995)

Three of my favorites...and many many more......the list must be very longer.

I really like "One Blood" by Junior Reid, which I think was after 1983(?) Also "Mek We Dweet" by Burning Spear(1990) is a classic for me.

what is digital on this record? definatley not the drums...could you be referring to the off the wall bass sound on the title track or snythesizers? this record is a banging live instrument lp all the way.

You call it a pure player sound?? For me the eletronic presence is evident.. :/
I have re listen the album right now, it was more digital in my mind, i agree that the major part are from true players but the roots style have someting who sound electronic in some tracks (the best ones damn) and Mick D ask for albums with authentic old sound... (the sound is ok for me, but i can understand if somebody cant stand it cause of this little electronic presence sometimes)
