I Roy The General Album
I always suspected this would be a weak one, probably recorded in 1 hour just to get the Virgin contract fulfilled. And, indeed, the DJ LP is weak. The so-called "FREE DUB ALBUM" isn't dub, except for 1 track. It's a good series of instrumentals. In fact, more worthwhile than the DJ's album. Man, I Roy was really riding many waves in the late 70's!

I agree that it's not I Roy's best work and the vocal tracks are probably all done in a single take, but the title track is wicked! Sly's cymbal crashes will melt your brain!
Like you said a very good set of riddims, Sly and Robbie stick to the basics for ca. 1979 session when their own productions of the time incorporated syndrums, etc. None of that on this session!
