the riddim on Rob Oil was used elsewhere by somebody called Perry.
When is it ever simple?

... uhmm, that was ofcourse the other way round ... i dont think anyone else but Lee Perry was capable of composing such a UNBELIEVABLE deep and truly African riddim as Elephant Rock out of You Can Run to Mid East Rock ... possibly one of his strongest creations ever ...

I may be wrong here but I don't remember seeing "You Can Run" on a Jamaican pressing and I don't think the UK pressup of it credits Perry. But certainly I always checked it as such. Another tune with a similar connection is "Oppression" by the Silvertones on Pama Supreme. Think there were two earlier cuts that Syd Bucknor produced. But again it seems to be an upsetter thing. Always thought the lyrics of Mid East Rock let dillinger down; a bad bad DJ but cut all those tunes for Perry in one session or thereabouts; it must have bled him of top rhymes big-time, which may be why. Yet no dillinger LP for perry. so many opportunities missed...

... a JA issue not spotted by the I either but the Punch credits Lee Perry; i'd rather had Pablo have a go at the riddim than Leroy Wallace too, but okay the melodica cut it there, certainly Bucknor steered, even included it as 'Arabian Trek' on a UK issued album; Perry and Bucknor had some tape swopping going on thats for sure; maybe the Ellis\Jarrett tape for the You Can Run riddim who can tell, although 'Opression' from 2 years postdate; there's also Slim Smith' 'My Girl' and Rico's vers of 'Surplus' crediting Bucknor for produce, so ...
I think we may compile the Dellinger album by ourselves as he wellcounted did some 12 tracks at the time for the Upsetter, but a pretty sleeve around em would have been nice for sure

... i do have TROPS 102 (came without its proper Many Beach Moods sleeve unfortunately) but ve never been able hear it complete as i (seem to hold out) live without the neccesary hardware (read turntable) for some years, ughhh (looking at the 3 meter row now that still needs reach i ear), but is it something worthwhile ? i mean Claws & Paws ?? as i understand it, the whole album pretty mediocre besides 'Trek'; Bucknor had a tendency to sugarsweet crap anyway if one will forgive me say ...

Yeh, Claws, paws in whatever order. That is the utha tune on the album. The rest is a bit sickly fosho, and that is saying something since I dont mind a bit of lovers action. The cover is a classic of bad design, which is not really any kind of recomendation.

No turntable? At least you aint damaging your collection

The sound of the horns on this "Rob Oil" is just the best possible... so few with this sound... Impossible to find, unfortunately... I was on the last copy on the bay, but been wiiiiidely kicked off...
