certain releases by Perry mostly consist of him grunting things such as "i de conqueror".."skengy rat" and other gibberish. all in all it makes for a dreadful disc.this is an important thread since people must know that Rhino releases are garbage

Not all Rhino release are bad.
But forget the Mad Prof/Perry stuff.
Most of the cd's are good stuff.
But Rhino is now by Trojan/Sanctuary records.

"Rhino does reissues or compilations. So it's not really the label's fault if the music is bad."
I disagree, i think it is totally the labels fault, they are putting out fake albums and mislabelling them just to sell them, i think they are a real bad label, there have been discussions over on b+f about them in the past. What kind of label puts shit music out then labels it Lee Perry meets Scientist! even when it's not them. Gives the artists a bad name.
I've also heard alot of criticism about Clocktower label, which i think the man/company called Abrahams runs(i think) all that stuff is supposed to be bootleg, but i have found some great stuff on Clocktower label.
Also the Lee Perry Album - Blood Vapour is supposedly not even lee perry, even thought it's a wicked album, i think it's a jammy production.

some Clocktower stuff is very good.As for Rhino, one album in particular has awful vocal inserts at start of each track, that go "in de left han' corner..weeeee haaaave...king,yeees kiiing tubbbby..ladies and gentlemeeeen" it sounds like some elderly geriatric male leading in to a cabaret performance. if i can dig it out i shall warn you not to buy it when i know the title. One album..dont know what label..supposedly by Perry allegedly isnt but its very good. contains tracks like Dayler Gate and Hold of Death

I don't know where the criticism for Clocktower is coming from, other than maybe that Abraham bootlegged some releases. There are some classic albums on this label: Barrington Levy "Poorman Style", Johnny Osbourne "Meets Roots Radics - Vintage 1980-81", Scientist "Heavy Metal Dub", and Linval Thompsom "Cool Down" are just a few examples.
