Its far from crap and your right being rare is not an indication of quality, but the original mix is not bare, its just not over produced like all of Perry's most famous albums

It´s a basic children toy that was used as is known since last year from an interview. You can blow on it and it creates these kind of noises but I forgot what it precisely was...

I forgot to finish my post.

I was going to say 'I vote Junior Murvin'. There had to be a reason why he bailed on Perry before that second Black Ark album was finished. Making someone cry down the mic like a baby for six hours would do that.

Correct Congo Bunny People who think that Perry was imitating a cow donnot understand his music that includes Katz and all his followers who think that everything they read is the truth and repeat it.

Lucky it still doenst sound like cow to me. And does a cow really sound that way?

E.G. Katz sais in his book that the Wirl pressing is a license of Go Feet. Which is true but it is also a real Wirl Barbados Release with its own matrix. He just saw the picture of the lable and never saw the record but has an opinion about it David ´Cow´ Katz

Congo Bunny wrote:But back to congos, the original mix shows how good a producer Perry is and it gives us a glimpse of how his records might have sounded if off island record labels haddn't encouraged him to be this 'mad man' such a shame we encouraged him to be 'mad' .
I really don't think Island Records encouraged Lee Perry "to be this mad man" - Scratch did that all by himself! ;) Remember, Island rejected *Heart Of The Congos*.

The original version of the LP isn't quite as "bare and unfinished" as Drive suggests - more like a test run for the magnificent version to follow. I see Congo Bunny's point of how "it sounds more like a reggae record than a Lee Perry record."

If you're serious about hearing it, I'm sure some "reggae fan" has it posted on their blog where you can download and listen.

You can **[read the story](http://www.upsetter.net/scratch/station ... congos.htm)** behind the Congos album on my Scratch website.

No, the "mooing cow" noise was made by Watty Burnett moaning into a cardboard tube. And yes, it was supposed to sound like a moan of pain - thinking about a mooing cow is kind of absurd, and yet that's what sticks in people's minds!

??? You mean the crying baby on "People Funny Boy"? That's a sample of Perry's daughter Marsha crying. Where do you get the idea that Scratch made someone "cry down the mic like a baby for six hours" and that's the reason why the second Junior Murvin album was never released ?!
