Hi Bellyman
Pablo - "East Of The River Nile" - I am pretty sure I could put a reasonable case for it being classified as instrumental (most of it anyway). Trojan have the title track on their Instrumentals Box Set -
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3737 - so I believe I am in good company!
If not I'm with Papa Ahmz and The Revolutionaries - Revolutionary Sounds Vol 1 (White Che cover).

Versions of "East Of The River Nile" include
"East Of The River Nile" ~ Augustus Pablo & Herman (Trojan / Big Shot 7")
[this is the first version & is the one on the Trojan CD]
"River Nile Version" ~ Herman's All Stars (Trojan / Big Shot 7")
"Soul Vibration" ~ Herman Chin-Loy & The Aquariuns (or Jimbelin) (Black Solidarity LP)
"East Of The River Nile" ~ Augustus Pablo (Message 7" & LP)
"East Africa" ~ Pablo Experience (Hawkeye 7")
The rhythm sounds like it may have been influenced by the Temptations track "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" ?

http://www.roots-archives.com/release/4106#rel4893. this is an amazing album, its jazzy and rootsy. very mellow vibe. as far as i know there arent any vocal versions to this record.

Instrumental Reggae has some real highs on vinyl, with some of the best already mentioned in this thread.
But for me Instrumental Reggae hits its absolute highest live on stage.
OK, so a clever sound man may be dubbing it up but the musicians are basically playing instrumentally.
The result is so warm and bounces with massive roots rock reggae vibes.
This is the buzz of someone of the style and calibre of Rico who can really play live.
If you are a reggae fan and you haven't ever seen a good (or great) reggae band play live then you must stir it up and get your sorry *rse to the next available gig!

i really like all Dean Fraser stuff
the bob marley tribute lps are very good
and just about any version of any mid 80s dancehall i like, speacially those lps that would go vocal-version,vocal-version
