Seb, How about an annual subscription - for example £10. That way you would only need about 80 members to cover your running costs if your figures quoted are in euros. Then you could sell t-shirts at cost + postage to members.

Why should we get this amazing resource for free?

Subscription, donation, T-shirts, whatever - I'll happily pay - you guys REALLY deserve to get pay, otherwise aren't you just our slaves?

Hi all,

I was going to back the Google ads idea until I read 6anbatte's post. Didn't know about the 50-50 split.

I like the the t-shirt sales and subscription ideas. I'd go for a t-shirt and a subscription. Annually for the sub., probably more often if the shirts look good.

Peace,

James

I think t-shirt and whatever other ideas would work, subscriptions usually end up meaning less roaming users come accross your site will sign up and be willing to pay which may adversely mean losing revenue in other areas..

indeed a sticky problem. I suggest go at it from all angles. Google Ads, a paypal link and special edition T shirts. Some might critisize you for this, but you could also put a link in the "dunza zone" as to why you needed to resort to such measures.

For the T shirts... The trick would be to select the crucial crucial designs and only make a run of 100 or something so that they have that limited item appeal. That might warrant the higher cost. Seek out good shops that can get you the best price on quality Ts with good printing. If you're going to do it, do it right.

Something to add to the mix, maybe you could have users submit designs. This might make it easier to get designs that don't have any copyright conflicts if the designers offer their services free of charge.

I wouldn't suggest subscription fees, becuase that will surely take care of the traffic issue for you. With your rankings on google right now, it would be a shame to turn away all that traffic.

Sorry for digging up such an old topic but I got an email a few days ago about t-shirts. I'm sure you all got it to.
So my question was, is it possible for Roots-Archives to deliver the shirt in an L size also?
'Cause then I would buy it for sure.

ps. I'm asking here because no one of Roots-Archives replied my email.
Thnx.

Funny seeing my old post about buying a t-shirt earlier in this thread. Ordered one the minute I read the e-mail. I don't wear "advertising" t-shirts much, but I suspect this one will get worn out. Might have to get a second one later on.

True that not all folks are XL wearers like me, L and M sizes would probably go fast too. Thanks to all at RA!

Taken from the email :
For now, only the XL size has been printed, but if you would like another size please send us a message to our store email address and we will contact you as soon as the size you request is available.
Get an XL t-shirt and make it be a nightdress, you'll be the best dressed chicken in bed :). Waiting impatiently for mine to show off a bit :).
