On the topic of Studio One Radio show, it seems to be a real radio broadcast of fairly standard studio one tracks with a famous JA dj talking over good chunks of the the music. From what i hear it is a authentic recorded radio broadcast. Songs are all legit, big tunes (Winston Francis, Burning Spear, Horace Andy, Carlton Shoes, etc)
I was not overly impressed. I downloaded it and listened once. Probably will never revisit it again. Brings to mind the sometimes odd and questionable decision making over the years of Heartbeat records. Sorry if that offends, but can not imagine why anyone would release this when there is so much pure gold, released and unreleased in the studio one vaults. If i had shelled out over 20$ for the lp i would have been pissed.
As for Ernie, it doesn't bother me that he carries other types of music. But i am disappointed that new reggae titles are coming in very delayed or at a trickle. That's been frustrating and has me ordering less.

I haven't heard this yet, but I have to say this seems like a very strange thing to release, and especially to do it so early in this reissue campaign. Sounds like more of something you would put up online. I can't imagine wanting anything like this on an album, it can't be something I'd feel compelled to go back listen to over and over, even if it included rare tracks, and if it's just big tunes then even less so.
I'm not sure what you're referring to with Heartbeat, but any resemblance in release strategy would be more than coincident, since I think some of the same people are involved.
Edit: I remember now we have discussed Heartbeat before, so never mind that part...

Totally agree. This would have been better as a extra download or some sort of giveaway. Def. an odd choice for the third album in the launch of a new reissue series! Heartbeat was always fascinated with studio chatter, alt. takes of the same track. this approach makes for a unsatisfying repeat listening experience. In my opinion some of the heartbeat releases would have been much better w/o this approach. But if the same principles are involved then i guess it all adds up. Nice to see Money Maker reissued, even though i've had it for a long time.

I'm passing on this one after listening to it on YT , Winston The Whip Williams would get on my nerves after a few listens.

I did notice that Soul Jazz has been outputting some 7" vinyl exclusively sold from their website. I ordered a a couple and enjoyed them. Really amazing that ebreggae...excuse me...EBRecords hardly carries any Studio One at all. No Pressure Sounds and dwindling Soul Jazz stock.
Not sure why E.B. is suddenly getting everything last, or never. To an earlier point about transatlantic distribution, it's sad on a number of levels that from the States I now get everything cheaper (and faster) from Juno UK. But there's no reason I can think of that Yep Roc would not distribute in UK if there's demand. Dub Store and Soul Jazz certainly blast everything worldwide, and no, they will not all have the same catalogs.
Anyway, this is great. I hope they re-release the original Jamaican mixes of Sugar Minott's Showcase and Willie Williams' Armagideon Time. The Heartbeat re-issues weren't very good.
