Certainly i'm gonna be another listener, as i'm always chekcing new web radios to hear new (i mean OLD new preferably)....

I'm also planning to do a web radio, but i don't have much experience as a DJ.... i wanted to know if any of u could help me out with some tips...

i already know how to manage mp3 files in an audio software that came with my NUMARK USB turntable, the software is AUDACITY...

I also use it to digitize my vinil collection, it's very simple, but once i started learning how to use it, i found out that i could do may others stuff, such as voicing over the songs with the mic, mixing them, fading in & out, delaying, reverb and some other quite interesting efx that i dont even know how to use...

i wanted to know if this software is ok or if i should try (or if there is) a better one...

also if anybody knows how the copyright thing works on a web radio....

like if i pay for a subscription to a web radio site like live365.com to stream a pre-recorded show, how should i do ?

should i mix many tracks together with some speech, like making many one or two hours show? or do i upload each song on a tracklist and play them one at a time?

sorry for so many questions, but this was just about the same topic name i'd post....

Hello my brazilian friend Guno and all interested on webradio,

Well, I am SassoReggae (to ppl that don't know me) from website www.reggaetrade.com and webradio 1.FM ReggaeTrade (the 1.FM reggae's channel).

I host a reggae station 24/7/365 for more than 1 year, and start my broadcast on Live365 and want say that Live365 is the better place to start a webradio, cause:

1° Live365 pay all royalties of music that you play;
2° have the better prices;
3° very easy to use, your station will be online in some hours.

I recommend before sing up read the help section on Live365, cause them explain all things about webradios...

Guno, about software, the best broadcaster software is SAM Broadcast ( www.spacialaudio.com ), you can make all possible and things that you think was impossible.

On Live365 you can make live show (direct from your PC) using soft like SAM or Studio365-Live, where you choose the songs to play on-the-fly and can speak over songs... or you can upload songs to Live365 servers and build the playlist and this will be played continuous.

I'm gonna try the Adobe Audition for a few days...

but probably i'm gonna keep using Audacity coz mine came with the original cd, and usually trial versions doesn't have all the features enabled...

unless the difference between them is BIG enough to make it worth using the trial or even buying the software...

Any other dj's/engineers to help me out?

I will be using live365.

As for software, I am not sure yet. This area is for my son to sort out as he is my technical advisor (genius!).

I will look at some of the suggested software also but some of it maybe for PC only and this will all be done from my Mac as sorry but I just can't stand that horrible Windoze experience!

I am glad I made this thread (thanks Ranking Trevor) as your replies are both a great help and also a real motivation to me.

Royalties payment is only possible if the artist/producer has registeerd worldwide or UK only etc.

If you use a system like live365 they protect you against any royalty issues, your fee includes a licence to broadcast copyright material.

Of course, it's well known that many royalties paid by radio stations don't find there way to the originators of the work. The uncollected royalties account at most big labels is HUGE and they've recently been castigated for being less than busy about trying to track down the originaters to pay them their tabs. But that is record companies for you, they really don't care about music, artists or anything except their own cash piles and fancy lifestyles.
