huh, so no one uses ultrsonic anymore? It vibrates the soapy water and does a hella job w/out vacuums and coolers and such. It also wets the label just enough so a light blotting cleans it without damaging . BTW, that oily residue, if from Jamaica, is diesel fuel, which many many people there use to buff records with. Plain old water w/ dish detergent seems to dissolve it, the water in my cleaner turns pink. Also, you may be disturbed to know that the operator's usual reflex b4 slapping down a record is to 'clean' it/ buff it on his shirt sleeve. Jamaica is where the fist-to-fist greeting replaced the handshake, for a reason, cuz things get mighty greezey and grimey there.

3 parts disttilled water,1 part rubbing alchol,6 DROPS of dish soap
use a clean cotton cloth.Use a 9 oz spray bottle for the formula.Its as good as any commercial cleaner.
