Just been to Dub Vendor, bought a few albums and, bizarrely, inadvertantly stumbled across another "Ring of Fire" version - "Black Lash" by King Tubby!
There's synchronicity for you!

Music Is My Occupation - the Skatalites features the horns from "Ring of Fire"
A rockers version of the song was recorded in the 1970s by Vin Gordon under the title "Tribute to Don D" or something. A King Tubby's dub of it "Dub Is My Occupation" can be found on a blood&fire cd (forget the title).

It's on "Dub Like Dirt".
I am actually waiting for someone to point out that the horn "riff" is from an old Tito Puente track or similar as I assume it must be.
Does anyone out there know?
