1976-1982. But there were a lot of monster tunes before 1976 as well, and after 1982 too!

songwriting was best in the era ca. 1966-1977, but the sound was better in ca. 1977-1982.

I agree with Lion--from then until now! I have music in my collection running from the mid-'60s through the present.
I will admit that '86 through '89 is a little under represented, but that doesn't mean there wasn't good stuff happening then--just that I missed it. Still lots of time to catch up, though.

I agree with so many on this board. The golden age was "the rub-a-dub era", "the original dancehall", "early eighties". For me that peroid were from 1979 to 1983, with the magical year of 1981 in its center!

early reggae or skinhead reggae era as some people call it. i do love ska, rocksteady, roots and dancehall too, but yes this 68-71 stuff is the best.
