cant forget about black slate's "black star liner" and i think im not sure i think cultural roots and reggae regular sing it too but i aint sure.

I recommend the African brothers band "Toure Kunda" for all African music lovers, they have some roots songs and are simply the best African music band i have list! They sing in African/English if i remember well ) they play from far now, i cant remember the good album names but one yes: "Salali Muhamed" wondefull!!! try theire first albums and you got the good ones

The cd-release on "runn netherlands" is OK. It contains a nice summary of the Seke and Kalo story and it has a black ark bonus track of Robert Palmer.

Nigerian reggae Empress Evi Edna Ogholi started singing in the late 70s. You might have to travel to Lagos to find her music though.
Otherwise check the reedition of "Soul of Addis" by veteran Ethiopian singer Mahmoud Ahmed.

It depends on where you live. If you link up with Ethiopians or Nigerians abroad, it should be quite easy to get hold of the music. If you can satisfy yourself with tapes instead of CDs, it will become very easy.

I do have the cd which makes one curious about that master tape because the sound quality is very poor, but of course it's the music itself that counts...

Aahfrica,Home to the Roots,it is true that there is not much available,(compiled),but certainly Africa has looked to Jamaica since way back,I know a track by Reggie Msomi,an Azanian saxophonist,called Midnight Ska from 1965 and many others after that from all over Africa,it is just that no crate diggers are coming up with the goods.Interesting is also the covers of African songs done by Jamaicans and then Jimmy Cliff went to Zaire(now Democratic Republic of the Congo) in 1987 and recorded with some local hotshots,O.K.Jazz,Afrisa International and Grand Zaiko Wawa.
