the compilation "drum sound" by the revolutionaries at channel one is pretty much the epitome of rockers/militant dub. also, anything by prince far i or dillinger's stuff with bunny lee is pretty deep, dark stuff- vocal versions and dubs.
also, along the lines of burning spear, im probably stating the obvisous here but, culture!

KTW Dub by Jr. Dan is a seminal dub album. Incredible drums and bass.

A bit morbid there, Jahson with each cover being grazed by a skull!

I've got Escape From Hell which is a fantastic album but I wouldn't think it's rather militant. That dub to Natty A Wah She Want is perhaps one of the smoothest rhythms ever released.
Been trying to find the other two for some while but they seem impossible. Even Black Magic Dub which shouldn't be too difficult since almost all FOR & Burning Sounds/Vibration/Rockers LP's are rather easy to find for cheap here in Sweden. This one still eludes me though.
The Top Ranking Dub cover is one of my favourite dub LP covers. It isn't joking around. It can only be serious dread. It's a bloody nazi-zombie on the cover!

I hadn't noticed the skull motif until I posted that

Unusual for reggae iconography, especially the frightening nazi-zombie!
I agree many of those riddims on *Escape From Hell* are very smooth, but the mixing is hard as nails and to my ear rather militant, especially those from Tappa's *Black Man* set. I love his take on Natty Dread A Wah She Want

Gotta agree on the Tappa Zukie productions: definitely tuff! He was a great producer at mixing militancy with melody, always very musical inna rockers style on the Knowledge, Junior Ross and Horace Andy albums he recorded.
Some fantastic dubs on "Tappa Zukie In Dub" and "Escape From Hell".

Totally agree Ras Leroy, some of the best productions of the period!
Kalcidis, I rinsed the Black Magic set again and it's not that militant either, definitely more musical dubs. I have the other Form dub set, and maybe I was thinking of that one

Someone mentioned the Fatman Dub Contest Jammy v Crucial Bunny, that one is well heavy & what we're talking about!

not sure what a "militant" dub LP is but as far as covers go - the "top ranking" cover above is a good one...unfortunately most of the dubs are fairly forgettable .......
