As I suspected, the file has no extension for whatever reason, which makes it very difficult to identify...
I added .zip to the end of the file name and WinRAR was able to open it, however it appears to be protected by a password. So unless your friend gave you a password with which to extract it, it's useless. There are ways to crack password-protected ZIP files but depending on the strength of the password it can take a very long time.

Well if you can't find the password I'm afraid we're out of luck friend. Brute forcing protected .rars takes forever. I mean weeks atleast.

Just search 'Crack Passwords RAR' on google, there are alot of programms, but I don't know if they harm your computer..

it's a ZIP, not a RAR, please don't confuse him
