Thanks for all the info so far...I'm quite sad to hear that he passed away...he's a truly underrated, but great artist. The first song I heard from him was a bizarre tune called 'One Foot Jump' on Harry J's Computer riddim, and it blew me away. I got all the albums from jean-marc's list except for Who Nu Hear Me Yet - any info on this release? Dance Cork is also mysterious, I just came across it, but have no other info about this album.

Greetings. "The Palmer Brothers" if anyone has ever heard about... I'm sure he started playing with them in the early 70's. If I'm not wrong here he was Junior Ross's (from Jr. Ross & the Spears)and Rising Sun's brother. The Palmer family or the Palmer Brothers. but The palmer brothers also had guys like Prince Alla, Brent Dowe & Challa played with them as well. I'm quite sure that he played along with his brother Jr. Ross singing harmonies for "the Spears". They all are from the greenwich town area, sharing the same neighborhood as the Soul Syndicate's Tony Chin, Santa, Fully, chinna... they'd play a lot together at that time, sometimes as Agrovattors, sometimes as Revolutionaries... he was definitely playing among the best of the reggae musicians during the late 70's. He had most of his stuff released by the jamaican label Freddom Sounds, in fact that label did release most of the stuff coming from the great greenwich town late 70's 'til mid 80's. Personally i don't like much his stuff after the early 80's but he's a good singer overall. There 're some heavy singles out there... hope have helped a little. respect

What?!?! That's terrible!!

He is (was?) one of the MOST underrated Jamaican singers. The song "Jesse Black" on the split LP with Johnny Clarke is one of my all-time favs.

Just read through and realised I've never seen the Wackies LP. Googled it and found the covers from it here http://www.ebreggae.com/Reggae/Vinyl/10 ... e-Yet.html

killed by police in NYC, mid 1990s. this is information from lifelong friends of his, not rumor. very sad indeed. also one of my favorite artists, and yes, his real name was Anthony 'Tony' Palmer, and from Greenwich Farm originally. a not very well known (but should be!) fact about Frankie Jones is that he wrote the songs "ballistic affair" and "badness no pay" for Leroy Smart!
