I remember the show. Jools used to front the Tube, a music show (I think on Channel Four). It showcased a lot of new artists including Madonna, who performed her debut single 'Holiday' on the show, her first UK TV performance. Off the back of that Jools went on to do a special - 'Jools in Jamaica'. He does actually perform at the end of the programme. It should be noted that he looks like he is buzzing as well and probably got to taste the local Jamaican delicasies that he was obviously surrounded by. I think the track he performed was a cover of Bob Marley's 'Roots Rock Reggae' from the Rastaman Vibrations LP. I'f not I'm sure a version of the track appears in the show. I also remember his interview with Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Jools trying to make sense of the kettle on the wall!!!
I would love to get my hands on a copy of the original show as it was authentic in every sense of the word.
I found a new sense of respect for Jools after the show, which I haven't lost.
Any copies going, please let me know.
