If a seller wants to earn more money by overpricing shipping cause ebay don't tax shipping, no problem if it's stated before cause you will bid less (I don't do it myself but I can understand) but when it comes after the end of the auction, it's clearly not fair cause you assume before bidding that the cost won't be prohibitive.

Threatening is the only way with crooks, and I have no mercy with them, I'm honest so dishonesty just gets me on nerves. If some silly seller wants to play that dodgy game, no problem, I have 2 account, one for sales, one for bids so no risk for me. I only did it 3 times over 200 auctions in 3 years but when I did, it was *really* deserved.

To send a LP from UK to France, it's about £2.8, I think it's quite fair until 4.5£ / £5 when not stated before end of auction. More is pure robbery, especially if the packet is home made.

Yes people,
THANK YA for all answers. My first feel was right. Seller bwoy wants to take me for a fool.

I purchased 4 LPs:
Ras Midas - Rastaman In Exile / Skej 5.99 $US
A. Pablo - East Of The River Nile / Messsage 8.50
S. Minott - Time Longer Than Rope / Greensleevess 4.99
I Jahman Levy - Africa / Jahmani 4.99

You see,not too much money, escpecially for Ras Midas + Pablo.

Seller wants 32 bucks for USPS 1rst class int´l.
He said, it´s NOT SIGNED FOR. Signed for would be additional 12 $.
I can´t take that blood sucking at all and this makes me angry.
But i want to have my records!

One thing is for sure: a heavier US package will absolutely be registered by german custums. The old game is that i have to show up at the berlin custums office. Waiting time is always around 1.5 - 2 hrs. Nice. Next thing is they do charge the value of the vinyl PLUS shipp. costs. From this amount they charge 19% import vat + fees.
After having it all paid last time i had to open up my package in front of the eyes of that big custums gal. I asked what she haffi control now. Her answer: "To make sure it´s no pizza inside". I told her i always use a us pizza service and i´m happy when it arrives after 2-3 weeks.
---
How much weight is 4 LPs + cardboard mailer, please????
Any us seller here can tell me this?
So i can use usps shipping calculator to find out their real price.

How would you go on now dealing with the seller..??..

Once again, thx to y´all.
One love, nuff greetings,
I-Lion

I've bought recently 6 LPs in the US and it was a bit more than $32 (maybe $33 or $34) but I had no choice, that was not on ebay and I found this a bit expensive. 4 LPs + packaging should weight about 1kg to 1.3kg

With 1.2kg, which make 2.64 pounds, you can see the prices here : http://postcalc.usps.gov/IntlMailServic ... 4&O=0&sd=1

$28 so $32 are not that expensive. Maybe you could suggest to send it in first class mail which is a bit less expensive than priority.

I'm very surprised how expensive it is compared to the price on the other side of the Atlantic, to send 4 or 5 LPs from France to US in economy parcel, it's about $15 !

Received my records now. You know what I paid. USPS sticker displays the amount of 22.50 for shipping.

Anyway, I calmed down - good for my nerves. The vinyl is as described. Due to the weak dollar, I can take it although it´s not fair...

Thanks for ya great great support!!

One Love,
I-Lion

I-Lion,

Next time you buy from a US seller you might want to make them declare your item as a "gift" on the customs form. This way the tax (I believe) lower or less of a customs hassle. I used to do this for my customers when I sold a ton of vinyl on eBay.

I used to ship a lot to Germany, South America, Japan, and all places in between and the price for 4 records plus a mailer should've been around 24.00 USD max. Sure, the seller is gloating at the moment!

Happy shopping!
