Tapes would still vex me as they always did. All that rewind and hunt for the tune you want. Not my style!

Leaving cassette tape aside, the reggae recorded in the 70s and 80s was recorded on 1/2 inch,1 inch or 2 inch magnetic tape which was used for multitracking 8,16,24 tracks..8 track reel-to-reels and thats how the best reggae was made on that format.I`m coming from the recording studio side of the topic.
They dont make cassettes of any quality these days.
The best ones were the TDK-SA-90s from the 80`s that worked best for home use.For me nothing is better than the record itself.

Agreed, I always bought the TDK SA 90s. They became the standard among the people I knew and anything else seemed best avoided.
Music recording in general would have been lost without reel to reel. Plus we wouldn't have those brilliant rewind moments on dub records!
