Super Ape is a more tighter set.

so far it seems that most people like the original super ape better, but i am sure plenty of Return... fans are out there...

Yeah, I prefer Return of the Super Ape. Both albums are the work of genius, but I prefer the atmosphere of Return. Mind you, I think Roast Fish trumps both Super Ape and Return...

Super Ape is better as a whole but Return has the best song from the two albums (Bird in Hand). And when is Roast Fish gonna get a release with cleaned up sound quality?

I prefer the atmosphere of Super Ape. I think it captures the smoky air of the black ark perfectly.

roast fish was released by trojan a few month ago in the amazing collection Ape-ology. the sound quality is very good

Ape-ology is only on CD, though, isn't it?

I prefer the Super Ape album. I can feel deeper roots than on the Return album. SA is a brilliant album, love it all through the years. Every time I play it it sounds fresh to me, it´s timeless music.

I much prefer The Return.., it's full of great songs and madness, the title track itself is better than anything on its predecessor.
It is a less commercial sound, and not in tune with the times, Channel One et al, but it is unique and always catches the ear of people who don't usually listen to the genre.
