Nice review there, Yardie... So Lee Perry was involved, after all! :)

Hi Yardie

Regarding the comments on your site -*"But why this set was not accepted as it deserved? I am not really able to tell you."* - I think it was probably because when it came out the 1972 version of "The Way It Is" had been reissued (with Pablo's "The Way" on the b-side. I am convinced it was 1979) and was getting a lot of airplay.

When people bought the album I reckon it was assumed (it definitely was by me) that this reissued version of "The Way It Is" single was a track from the album.

On the back of hearing that single I ordered the album from Dub Vendor and I can still remember receiving it and then being absolutely gutted to hear a completely different version of "The Way It Is". Needless to say the album didn't have that amazingly atmospheric *feel* either.
Pretty sure there were a lot of disappointed people out there at the time and hence it being *"not accepted as it deserved"*.

Just my theory, of course.:D

Hi 6anbatte and hi to all the rest of you,
it's always a pleasure to learn something new from you all. Of course I didn't have any ideas about the story you wrote. But I'm here to improve my musical knowledge, so... thanks. It's such a nice feeling when some of you spend some time to check my comments on my site.
Tks and Irie!!!

Hi Yardie

Not a problem. That is just *my* theory, of course. As you can see that experience did irrepairable damage to me as I am still bitter and twisted about it! :D

Thanks. So I read through the section on the album:

http://www.reggae-vibes.com/concert/ikong/ikong2.htm

...about half way down.

I still don't have a clear picture about who produced it. Does it sound to you that I Kong is claiming he produced it?

Yardie, please tell me which tracks were recorded at the Black Ark studio, cause I really can't hear it.

Cover says it was (partly) recorded at the Black Ark, but I agree with you Ron, as far as I can hear none of the tracks where recorded there. Wouldn't be the first time the credits on a Jamaican album is wrong...

a black ark feel in the sound of the drums somewhat, on a couple of songs, a lighter mix or sound

but that's just to my ears
