Guess Joe White was a perfect match for Perry.

Prince Lincoln & the Royal Rasses. I'd love to hear the 'Experience' and 'Humanity' tracks in a Black Ark mix.

Interesting idea. Met Joe White once and he said he never worked with him. There's a record on the DW Mays label out of JA which credits Joe White & The Upsetters. Does sound circa 73 Upsetterish but maybe it's just the band with the sound in this case.

Who else? Jimmy Cliff cut some riddim tracks at the Ark but never voiced or mixed them there. Suspect that some of the tracks were used on Sunpower, perhaps on Joe Higgs/Jimmy's "Sound Of the City", a fantastic, well-produced record. Imagine what Perry would ha' been able to do with Mr Higgs? but sometimes two strong personalities can't mesh... Higgs did work at the Ark once producing the Wailing Souls but that's a different kinda thing although you can hear him in the back-up vocals...

Theres atleast one song made at the Black Ark with Joe Higgs.

Its called "Creation" on the Half Moon label and Ethnic Fight label.

Theres another one that reminds me of Mr. Higgs' style.

Its called "Nobody Knows" on the Pama label and "Ken McKay" is credited as the singer... but I doubt it.

I will play the Ken McKay - I had wondered if it was Freddie McKay, will check it again.
I believe the Half Moon records such as 'Creation' are not Black Ark although they sound like it, mix is a bit too harsh and unsubtle. They're recorded at Half Moon studios in Toronto. There's a compilation available from Honest Jon's. Stranger cole's "Forward In The Land Of Sunshine" LP was cut at the same place; really interesting record if you can get it.

I've always wanted an album with Norman Grant and the Twinkle Brothers mixed and produced by Lee Perry. I can imagine the minor chord melodies of Norman with the idiosyncratic mixing and sound of the Black Ark would have been really really good.

I'd like an album by the meditations. The Perry produced tracks by them like "No Peace" or "Much More Smarter" are so good - imagine an entire LP!

Guess besides Joe White as a Female Vocalist Nora Dean would be a match. But then early an early black ark album.
