Didn't realize they actually prosecuted someone for peter's murder. I remember watching a documentary where they talked about this homeless guy who peter had taken under his wing so to speak, his friends apparently warned him about this guy but he allowed him to stick around his house and was good friends with him, and this was the guy who shot him so the film said.
I'm sure Roger can give a more accurate account.

I remember asking Roger Steffens about this (or was it the attempt on Marley's life?) and Roger more or less told me that if he told me what he knew, his life would be in danger.
are you serious?? does he know something???

Concretely, it happened almost like that, indeed. Lobban had just come out of jail (he was a friend of Peter from the Rema days), and he was begging some money every now and then to Peter. That's how he had the gateman opening the door that evening... but then, 4 of them rushed in the place, forced everyone to get flat and eventually shot Peter Tosh and Free I in the head.

But then again, the REAL questions remain (Lobban never disclose a lot during the trial) : who were the other guys, lokking like "plain-clothes cops" according to some testimonies. Did one of them really say :; "let's do what we've come here for " just before killing Tosh ?

The thing is : who did benefit the most from Peter Tosh's passing ?

Bob Marley did! Now he has a good guitarist and backing vocal in heaven. :)

Wouaaa ! That was a good point... Tosh would have loved this reference to heaven, furthermore.

... and being the backing vocal of Bob for eternity ? Another Tosh's dreams for sure.

damn bro, this is heavy...wow

With that kind of answer it seems to me that the reggae world is involved. Was this dude Leppo involved in reggae music? In "Steppin Razor: Red X" they talk about the Rasta Reggae Radio, an idea that Tosh had and wanted to bring it to Jamaica, and how some people did not want that to happen. So much mistery surrounding this controversy, but all we can do now is appreciate his work, and hope that one day Andrew Tosh finds a good backing band so he can represent his father better :D

i think andrew has a good backing band..i guess what he really needs is to write more own stuff than to cover the songs of his father..andrew has a very sweet voice...i would really like to see more stuff that he wrote..

and by the way I heard that someone is going to write a book about peter called "bush doctor" i heard this news maybe 1 or 2 years ago...i hope this project will be realized

ive seen andrew with like 3 different backing bands. just saying. i thought he lived in brazil. What i meant is that he needs to get a solid band, like you know, andrew tosh and the something something. he has indeed an amazing voice that resembles his father, but he needs a good band to make his voice sound even better. he gave a show in peru with a so-so band, check em out and you be the judge.

one of the gunmen apparently forced Peter and friends to the floor demanding money. Get down to the floor - "Peter your not getting out of this"

Strangely Tosh sung about the iniquity and falseness within friendship in - 'Guide Me From My Friends, That's What They Will Do'. In the end, it was a close friend who committed the murder.
