Give Her My Love is another different tune by Naggo Morris, not a dub of Jah Guide.

Niney worked for a time for Joe Gibbs, running studio sessions, so not surprising that a few of his productions surfaced on Gibbs labels.

On top of that, Naggo Morris also was in the Heptones when they recorded for Niney :)

"These three cds are well worth getting. You will get 33 original 12" mixes for the price of one original on buybay today which is a bargain."

You can`t compare the cost either.

One original 12" (if you can find one) vs 33 tracks on CD costing less than one original 12"

I know where my money will go. I`m happy to compromise on the sound to get the 33 tracks on CD.

You could pay a lot more for one original 12" and not be guaranteed perfect sound.

Ans when you play CD through a quality system you don`t lose that much.

Well okay, after a few more listenings I must admit that there are flaws, especially on the vol.1.

But hey, still great value for little money! :)

These are much better than the D Brown 12" compilation release, which sounded like it was recorded in a 4x4 room and then compressed to hell.

Does the 12" Discomix Showcase sounds as good as the original pressing? Often yes, because Joe Gibbs JA presses were notorious for using sub-par vinyl, being off-centre, and including little bits of paper embedded in the vinyl. Some of the Miami pressings were better, but I don't think purists would count these as "original" as they often used different stampers.

The other thing to consider is that if people support re-issues, we'll see more of them. E-Bay will survive whether it sells reggae records or not.

Sure you can. Sometimes it's better, and sometimes it's worse! As for "originals". I would much rather get a remastered 7" inch cut from the original mix-down tape than get the 50,000 copy pressed from the original stamper, which by then has degraded substantially. "Original" is a term that speaks more to the monetary value on the secndary market than it does to the actual sound of the recording.

Do those CDs include the versions from Side B?

Vol. 3 is the more early dancehall style stuff, and it just occurred to me: Who was the likely session band to be playing on these tracks? It's what I think of as Roots Radics style, but did they play for Joe Gibbs too at this time?

Lloyd Parks & We The People Band, which likely consisted of the following members around this time (80/81)

Lloyd Parks - bass
Winston "Bo-Pee" Bowen - rythm guitar
Andy Bassford - lead guitar
Franklin "Bubbler" Waul - keyboards
Dean Fraser - Sax
Ronald "Nambo" Robinson - trombone
Chico Chin - Trumpet
Devon Richards - Drums
Ruddy "Flick Wilson" Thomas - Percussion

I have never heard of The Radics recording for Gibbs, or seen them listed as doing session work for him on LP covers.
